Paul Dufour

Paul Dufour was educated in science policy and history of science and technology at McGill, Concordia and Université de Montréal. He is adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa’s Institute for Science, Society and Policy and Principal of PaulicyWorks, a science and technology policy consulting firm based in Gatineau, Quebec. Paul has over 35 years of experience working directly with science policy agencies, ministries, media and politicians of all stripes. In addition to publishing  and speaking extensively in science policy academic circles, he has been writing regularly for science and public policy magazines for over three decades, including Research Money, Science and Public Policy, Science and Diplomacy, The Hill Times, Embassy News, and iPolitics. He was series co-editor of the Cartermill guides to world science and contributor to the UK-based  newsletter Outlook on Science Policy. His latest update of the 'Canada' chapter for UNESCO's 2015 edition of their global science report will be published on World Science Day in November. 

Paul is advisor to the graduate student Science Policy Exchange based in Montréal, as well as the student UOttawa Science Policy Society. He is a member of the Science Advisory Board and Investment Committees of Grand Challenges Canada for global health issues. Paul currently co-chairs the Science Integrity Project, an inclusive, constructive, and non-partisan effort aimed at improving the use of evidence in decision making at all levels of government in Canada. He is regularly consulted by media in both official languages for his views on developing science and policy policy issues.
