Maryse Lassonde holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Université 
de Montréal and a Ph.D. from Stanford University. She was a professor of 
psychology at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (1977-1988) and 
at the Université de Montréal (1988-2013) where she was named professor 
emeritus in 2013. Professor Lassonde is the Scientific Director of the 
Quebec Science and Technology granting agency (FRQNT) since 2012. Her 
research interests are social sciences, health, and biomedical imaging. 
More specifically, she studied the normal cognitive development of babies 
and children and the cognitive effects of childhood epilepsy and sports 
concussions using clinical tests and various imaging procedures. She has 
published 5 books, and over 200 book chapters and articles in scientific 
journals. She has also given more than 200 invited presentations over the 
world. She is a Fellow of the Canadian Psychological Association, of the 
Royal Society of Canada, of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. She 
held a Canada Research Chair in Developmental Neuropsychology (2001-
2013). She has received several awards and distinctions. Among them, 
Professor Lassonde was named Knight, National Order of Quebec (1999), 
Officer, Order of Canada (2012) and is President Elect of the Royal Society 
of Canada.
